HISTORY OF M.MAURER PASSAMENT FACTORY

M.Maurer is an international company based in Vienna's 7th district. The company is run by Kommerzialrat Konrad Maurer and his son Albert, the 6th generation to do so.

The company was founded in 1863 by Hans Maurer. 
The company name M. Maurer arose in 1884 from the name of Matthias Maurer, Konrad Maurer’s great-great-grandfather.

Today the family business combines
old-traditional with new-modern style.

Dedicated staff and their impressive workmanship produce innovative, high-quality products.

1891-1893 Friedrich Maurer joins the company as an apprentice 

1895 Acquisition of the Adolf Altmann Passement Factory

1900 Construction of the company M.Maurer in the courtyard of Kandlgasse 20 and founded as OHG. - Gold wire and spinning business

1918 Friedrich Maurer Jr. joins the company

1929 World Economic Crisis - Difficult times for the company and its competitors

1932-33 Exhibition - Space and Fashion in the Austrian Museum of Art and Industry in Vienna

1939 Friedrich Maurer Sr. and Barbara Maurer withdraw from the company and hand over the executive Director aliquot shares to their children Friedrich and Barbara (Davies/Franz)

1945 the Maurer company has about 235 employees; extensions to product range, conversion to mechanical production

1958 Konrad Maurer joins the company as an apprentice

1959 Friedrich Maurer Sr. dies at the age of 94

1976 Friedrich Maurer Jr. hands over his shares to his son Konrad Maurer and his daughter Elisabeth Hummer

1977 Acquisition of Wawra H. & Co. (Nowosad & Posch) mech. rubber band weaving partnership. (Machinery, stock, customer base, know-how)

1980 Kommerzialrat Friedrich Maurer dies at the age of 85

1988 Acquisition of the Carl Sieder company

1993 Acquisition of the Passementerie Karl Höllt company (machinery, stock, customer base, know-how)

1995Purchase of the Karl Pollak Trimming production company and relocation to Kandlgasse 22, 1070 Vienna

2000 Acquisition of Lendvay Ges.m.b.H. & Co. KG, Textile section (machinery, stock, customer base, know-how)

2006 Purchase of Jos. Stefsky Posamentier-und Schnürwaren-Fabrik (machinery, stock, customer base, know-how)

2015 Albert, son of Konrad Maurer joins the company. In the years that follow, the business is further modernized

2017 The family business employs 27 people, 20 homeworkers and the team also includes two hearing-impaired colleagues, who were warmly welcomed into the company

The employees operate 100 machines every day. The company has a range of about 3000 items.

2018 Elisabeth Hummer withdraws from the company and hands over her shares to Konrad Maurer

2019 Albert Maurer is appointed Managing Partner
